Why Practice Yoga?

Despite what many people assume about yoga, the physical practice is a top rated exercise and a science. Not a religion. It has been taught and practiced for hundreds of years.

 

Hatha yoga, which is the "tool" component of yoga, has the ability to strengthen and cure the body with just the body. Hatha yoga is a holistic exercise because it does more than make us move. It encompasses the use of the entire body, improves the mind, and lifts our spirit. The spirit is most often a neglected component in our quest to health but it should never be. Our spirit is the core of our emotions and impacts not only how we feel, but how we behave. Practicing Hatha yoga can revitalize a dull and lifeless spirit and help remove depression from our life. If any exercise could be rated by its medicinal value on the body, Hatha yoga would be at the top of the list!

My viewpoint on diet and exercise is simple. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as the main focus and practice Hatha yoga regularly. Doing so can synergistically help you feel younger and live longer.

 

I've practiced yoga since I was 26 and can still remember the difference it made in my life.  Dealing with depression and anxiety since childhood, yoga helped me to eliminate unexplained sadness and lack of confidence. I can still remember my first yoga teacher's name too, Julie Crutchfield! Her classes were so basic and simple but they worked! Becoming some rock star yogi is never necessary to feel the difference of practicing yoga. In fact, you can even experience the difference right after your very first class!
